A
Brief History of Thermalarm
In 1970, Al Varrieur sat at his kitchen table wondering
how to protect his family's small commercial greenhouse
operation from the ravages of New Hampshire's frosty
seasons. A retired executive and aeronautical engineer,
Al used his skills to develop a temperature-alarm instrument
that was reliable, simple to operate and inexpensive
to manufacture. His first Thermalarm filled a need in
the market that no other design had.
Horticultural industries were immediately interested
and soon, the success of Thermalarm sparked the interest
of other agricultural industries in need of low cost,
reliable temperature protection. As a result, Al added
poultry and other animal confinement industries to his
growing list of customers. Thermalarm quickly became
a success throughout the United States and Canada.
In
1977, the company incorporated under the laws of the
State of New Hampshire as Thermalarm Products, Inc.
Although Thermalarm has experienced several design changes
and improvements over the years the basic operating
principle remains the same as when Al built his first
instrument. We are still a family owned and operated
business and our goal is to meet the demands of major
commercial manufacturing concerns while we maintain
the ability to deal with the needs of the smaller companies
and individuals who use our products.
